Defense cooperation between Türkiye and Pakistan reached new heights during the eighth Pak-Turk Industrial Expo Joint Working Group meeting, where discussions focused on potential export of Türkiye's advanced KAAN fighter jet and joint helicopter development.

The high-level meeting brought together representatives from 32 institutions across both nations, marking a major step forward in bilateral defense collaboration. Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) General Manager Mehmet Demiroglu led the Turkish delegation, which included prominent companies like Aselsan, Havelsan, Milsoft, Crypttech, and SDT.

At the heart of discussions was the possible acquisition of KAAN, Türkiye's fifth-generation fighter jet, by Pakistan. The talks also explored plans for co-developing a new helicopter, though specific details about its intended use remain undisclosed.

The meeting, organized by Pakistan's National Aerospace Science and Technology Park and Defence Industries Secretariat, saw participation from 23 Pakistani companies, highlighting strong industrial engagement from both sides.

These bilateral sessions, held twice yearly since 2019, have become a cornerstone of Turkish-Pakistani defense cooperation. The meetings alternate between the two countries, fostering closer ties in strategic defense and technology sectors.

The latest round of talks underscores growing military-industrial collaboration between Ankara and Islamabad, as both nations seek to enhance their defense capabilities through joint projects and technology sharing.
