A 26-year-old Scottish man has died while working as a medic on the frontline with Ukrainian forces, according to his family. Jordan Maclachlan, from Ardnamurchan in the Scottish Highlands, was killed on Friday while providing medical support to Ukrainian troops.

In a statement, Maclachlan's family expressed pride in his commitment to helping others in Ukraine. "Jordan always believed that he was making a difference and we are all so proud of him helping others," they said. The family described him as a "fun-loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many."

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed they are supporting Maclachlan's family and coordinating with local authorities. Details about the circumstances of his death remain limited as the family awaits more information.

Maclachlan is among several British citizens who have lost their lives while supporting Ukraine's defense efforts. In November 2023, 22-year-old Callum Tindal-Draper, a former NHS worker from Cornwall, was killed while serving in Ukraine's foreign volunteer platoon. Despite his family's pleas not to go, Tindal-Draper had insisted on joining the fight against what he viewed as bullying by Russian forces.

Other British casualties in Ukraine include Christopher Perryman, a former army sniper, and Jordan Chadwick, who had previously served in the Scots Guards. Chadwick died in June 2023, eight months after traveling to Ukraine to join the conflict.
