Lithuania will begin training Ukrainian military instructors starting in 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities with NATO standards and methodologies.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Sergiy Melnyk and Lithuania's international military education advisor Stasys Paldunas. Under the program, an initial group of 30 Ukrainian instructors will receive specialized training in Lithuania.

"Improving military education and combat training remains one of our key priorities for the Armed Forces of Ukraine," stated Deputy Minister Melnyk. "This partnership allows us to integrate NATO's advanced standards into our training programs."

The collaboration also includes plans to modernize combat shooting training programs. A pilot project implementing Alliance standards will be launched at two Ukrainian educational institutions.

This new training initiative adds to Ukraine's existing international military education partnerships. Ukrainian forces have previously received specialized training in Germany focused on anti-mine tactics, as well as urban warfare training in the United Kingdom.

The Lithuanian training program represents another step in strengthening Ukraine's military capabilities through cooperation with NATO allies, allowing Ukrainian forces to adopt modern Western military standards and practices.
