France has confirmed it will continue providing military intelligence to Ukraine, stepping up to fill the gap after the United States suspended its information sharing with Kyiv.

French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced Thursday that France maintains its sovereign intelligence capabilities and will ensure Ukraine continues receiving critical military intelligence support.

The announcement comes after Washington's Wednesday decision to temporarily halt intelligence sharing with Ukraine - a move that impacts Kyiv's ability to effectively target Russian forces. While U.S. officials from the Trump administration suggest the pause may be brief, pending positive discussions between Washington and Kyiv, the interruption affects a key wartime partnership.

In response to the broader U.S. suspension of military aid, French President Emmanuel Macron has directed an acceleration of French assistance packages to Ukraine. The Defense Minister noted this aims to help offset the absence of American support.

The U.S. decision has already impacted logistics, with Ukraine-bound aid shipments from Poland coming to a halt. However, Lecornu expressed measured confidence in Ukraine's preparedness, noting that after three years of conflict, Ukrainian forces have developed effective stockpiling capabilities.

France's commitment to continued intelligence sharing represents a key European ally stepping forward to maintain support for Ukraine's defense efforts during this period of uncertainty in U.S.-Ukraine cooperation.
